How do you bring Florence’s cultural heritage to life in a way that feels vibrant, contemporary and deeply connected to its Anglo-American legacy.
Il Prisma developed a new brand strategy and narrative for Anglo American Hotel Florence, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Built between 1862 and 1864, the hotel reflects Florence’s architectural style with its sober façade and Liberty-inspired interiors. Originally constructed as public housing, it transformed into a hotel around 1890, welcoming figures like Lev Tolstoy, Rudolf Nureyev, Maria Callas, Carla Fracci, and Eduardo De Filippo, and earning a mention in Augustus Hare’s 1896 guide to Florence.
At the heart of the strategy is the concept of “A world of contrasts unto itself”, blending Florence’s historical roots with international influences. This vision unfolds across three brand pillars: The Scorpion salon –inspired by Florence’s 19th-century cultural lounges and the Grand Tour, this pillar reimagines the sharp wit, intellect and snobbery of the Scorpioni, creating a dynamic space for today’s social exchange; The obsession for the arts – drawing from Florence’s artistic heritage and the Macchiaioli movement, this pillar comes alive through bold colors and daring artistic references, celebrating creativity and expression; The external insiders – reflecting the unique Anglo-American community and its international lifestyle, this pillar explores the contrast between English tradition and American modernity.
The result is a hotel that offers engaging and unconventional experiences: a hidden gem where travelers from near and far connect and explore Florence’s captivating stories, just steps from its historic heart. An exclusive, international salon full of contrasts, it sparks curiosity with surprising touches and bold moments, crafting extraordinary memories while honoring the legacy of the Anglo-American community.
